Estimation of Tire Normal Forces including Suspension Dynamics

Tire normal forces are difficult to measure, but information on the vehicle force can be used in many automotive engineering applications, e.g., rollover detection and wheel stability. Previous papers use algebraic equations estimate tire force. In this article, estimation of is formulated as an input problem. Two observers proposed solve problem by using a quarter-car suspension model. First, Youla Controller Output Observer framework presented. It converts into control produces parameterized controller observer. Second, Kalman filter approach taken addressed with Unbiased Minimum Variance Filter. Both methods accelerometer deflection sensors determine The design validated simulation sensitivity analysis performed evaluate their robustness.
